Prepping

Harvests are loooooong. Before you get started, review the hardware guide and make sure that your harvest setup is going to be successful
Get a dedicated device for harvesting to keep things moving - don't get distracted with calls!
Make sure the team get breaks! This is an important compliance event and mistakes are easier to make when fatigue sets in.
Have a flow where plants that haven’t been scanned arrive on one side of the scale, and scanned plants go out to the dry room on the other side, don't cross the streams!
Plan for electricity and outlets - this goes double for outdoor cultivations
Keep the mobile device and dongle plugged in to power if at all possible
Remove trellis layers before harvesting to make harvesting easier and avoid breaking off branches which makes weighing plants more challenging
Double check all scale and bluetooth configurations are set up. Feel free to use our cheat sheet listed below.

Scanning

Mount your mobile device using a gooseneck tablet mount and position it so the back-facing camera is approximately 1-foot from a light surface, like a white wall
Place a piece of blue painter's tape on the wall where it lines up with the Trym app to help you align the tags easier - you won't have to remember where to put the tags each time you want to scan
Use the audio cues to know when to remove the plants from the scale
Tag your plants with the zip tie on the far end of the Metrc tag so it doesn't get in the way of the scanner
Use shorter time period between plant scans (1 sec)
Reference the cheat sheet listed below for a scanning visualization.

Get an 8" S-Hook to extend the clearance from the bottom of the scale - make sure to use zip-ties to fasten it to the scale's hook
Make sure the scale is high enough above the rack to accommodate plant heights
Place a bin at the bottom of the rack to collect debris
The process is most efficient with a team of two. One person to hang the plant/scan the tag. And the other to remove the plant and place in the bin to go to the drying room. The second person makes a huge difference.
