What is Moving/Splitting Plant Batches in Trym
When we refer to Plant Moves, we are referring to a plant or plant batch moving locations within a facility. Plant moves can be separate from phase changes, but they can also be made together in the Phase Change action.
When we refer to Splitting Batches, we are referring to reducing the size of the source batch by moving any number of plants from it to a new batch with that selected number of plants in it. This serves many purposes for plant batch management as shown in Moving, Splitting, and Phasing Plants in Trym Best Practices.

Best Practices for Move/Splits
I am moving plants on the Mobile app, but I don't want to split the batch
If your process is to scan the tags of the plants you want to move and don't want to split those plants off from the source batch we recommend first destroying all the plants needed from the source batch with the Mobile app and then promoting the batch in Trym Explore.
When is the best time to split a batch and what to consider
The best time to split a plant batch is going to be when it is in the Immature growth phase. This is due to plants being grouped under one tag or batch name depending on your states compliance rules for immature plant batches.
When splitting plants in the immature growth phase it allows you to choose which batches can be moved or promoted to a tagged growth phase in a streamlined fashion that doesn't require further work when all the plants are individually tagged. All batches should be organized and ready to promote in Immature to bets keep continuity through all growth phases.
Troubleshooting Moving and Spitting Plants
When moving tagged plants on the mobile app you are effectively splitting a batch. If you see plant batches split in Trym Explore without taking that action directly in Trym Explore, plants from that batch were most likely moved using the Mobile App.

Moving plants between locations may require assigning a zone. Make sure you have zones configured in all rooms that might require them.
